I think it’ll take me all of 2015 to burn off the calories I ate during Christmas Eve and Christmas. But I have to say, it’ll probably be worth it. This was definitely one of the best years for food when it comes to Smart Cookie Family Christmases.

Before we dive into discussing our holiday feasting, let’s take a look back at what we posted this week.

As you can tell, we had a few less posts this week than usual because I wanted to enjoy the time with my family this holiday. However, that also means I’ve got loads of new recipes to bring you this week and in the new year. Just because I was “on vacation” doesn’t mean I wasn’t cooking up a storm!

DSCN0531-2On Christmas Eve, we partook in a plethora of finger foods, including this Spicy Parmesan Fried Tortellini you’ll see this week. It’s a twist on one of my favorite easy appetizers.

Maybe it was the food, but everyone was feeling the holiday spirit.

Ry’s okay, but note the happy Christmas pup in the background.

DSC02808Believe it or not though, the boys did more eating in the day after Christmas than they did in the two days before. That’s because we trekked over to Hillbilly Hot Dogs in West Virginia where they were brave enough to take on the Homewrecker Challenge.

Mother Cookie, Sister Cookie and I chose to stay on the sidelines and cheer them on for that rather than eating ourselves into food comas.

We did enjoy some deep-fried goodness though.

The boys had to eat a 15-inch, 3 lb. hot dog with all the fixings in less than 12 minutes to win the challenge. When the dogs came out, the apprehension set in.

But they powered through, and Ryan was able to conquer that hot dog from hell. You’ll see from the picture that Joe was extremely close too. Props must be given to both these champs.
